Analyzing Personal Metrics

A Study of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is one of the most popular and successful multiplayer online battle royale games, developed and published by PUBG Corporation. PUBG has revolutionized the gaming industry with its realistic gameplay, immersive graphics, and engaging gameplay. In the game, up to 100 players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to eliminate other players while avoiding getting eliminated themselves. The last player or team standing wins the game. PUBG offers various game modes, including solo, duo, and team play, and has gained a massive following worldwide. PUBG has become a phenomenon, with over 1 billion downloads worldwide and millions of active players.

In addition to the daily hustle and bustle of life, it is essential for an individual to have an activity or space to unwind and alleviate stress. For me, this activity is gaming, and specifically, I enjoy playing PUBG frequently. Typically, my roommates and I engage in gaming at night as a way to unwind and have fun. Therefore, I have chosen this topic for my project. I have created my own dataset, which includes various entities such as date, day, number of matches played, duration of gameplay, wins and losses, kills, most valuable player (MVP) titles, and their corresponding counts. While I have been playing the game for a considerable amount of time, my dataset begins from the start of my current semester.

The question one can ask is, “How am I doing my gaming in this semester after my schedule change?”, “What is my performance?”, “Do I outplay my team?” And “Average kills per days?”

Talking about Report/Dashboard:

I have devised a chart that displays my gaming activity based on four distinct variables: the number of matches played, the amount of time spent playing, the day of the week, and the date. The chart comprises bar graphs, and there is a drop-down menu that is associated with the charts, allowing for a seamless transition between them to reveal all the pertinent data related to these four variables. This information answers the query about my gaming habits.

To address the query regarding my performance, I have utilized two charts to visualize the data. The first chart is a bar graph that displays my average number of wins and losses on a daily basis. The second chart depicts the frequency of my eliminations, a crucial aspect of the game, in various months. This information is presented through a combination of line and shape graphs.

The final inquiry regarding whether or not I outperformed my team is addressed through a pie chart. The chart displays the initials of each team member who received the most valuable player (MVP) title, along with the number of titles they earned within a single day. As the dashboard is centered around me, I have highlighted my section of the pie chart.

As an additional note, given that the data covers the winter through spring seasons, I have utilized a cool color palette to represent it. Additionally, I have placed the game’s logo in the top left corner.

Conclusion: The analysis of PUBG will help to gain insights into behavior, engagement, and retention, and provide valuable information. By analyzing PUBG, I hope to contribute to the gaming industry’s knowledge base. Overall, this project aims to provide valuable insights into the relationship between personal metrics and in-game performance in PUBG, which can me optimize my performance in the game and lead to increased engagement and enjoyment.
